A Great Start: Mid-Session Update

Mid-Session Update

Almost four weeks into the 60-day legislative session, the Health Security Act is working through its committee assignments in each house.

On February 6, the Health Security Act in the house of representatives (HB 101) passed the House Health & Human Services Committee on a 4-3 vote.

► Did you know that if you can't come to the state capitol, you can still watch what's going on in the legislature each day? Hearings and floor sessions (when the whole senate or house meets) are streamed live and recorded for later viewing.

On February 9, the Health Security Act in the senate (SB 172) passed the Senate Public Affairs Committee on a 5-3 vote. The house and senate bills are identical; there are two bills because it can be advantageous to have one piece of legislation moving through both houses at the same time.
